The past 4 days have been busy in room 118! Updates are below!
Math
We took our Unit 1 Math Assessment to show off our growth in multiplication. We also began Unit 2, which will continue multiplication of 6, 7, and 8! Keep on practicing math facts at home to build up the speed and automaticity with your child. If you want to check out our Skip Counting songs, head on over to this link: http://mrssundhsclass.weebly.com/the-buzz/skip-counting
Reading
We really enjoyed our new story about the moon and focusing on non-fiction text. We are learning about the various text features and how they help us learn to read non-fiction text. We also learned some cool vocabulary words and made our own definitions based on the text.
Writing
We finished up our opinion paragraphs this week. Ask your child to retell what they wrote about. We are working on adding linking phrases and using a convincing and strong tone! Some of the children want to send their paragraphs to Mr. Knapp and Dr. Schumacher if they wrote an opinion about school- how cool is that!?!
Science
We wrapped up our group presentations on our weather findings of various travel destinations today. Each child was assigned a role within a group and was responsible for researching about a destination. All the jobs related back to weather and climate tasks. They had to recommend the best time to travel to their destination and tell me what I’d need to pack. I hope your child can tell you more about their location.
Social Studies
We had a great afternoon with the entire 3rd grade rotating between the classrooms to learn about geography. We ended our afternoon with a fun Kahoot game in Mrs. Snader’s room. In there, we worked on teams to recall the information from the 3 rooms.
Thank you to Sophia’s mom for being our Mystery Reader today. We loved learning about the mystery books at Cook Library.
